I vow...

To blog at least three times a week at my website from now on. I've also missed a day or two when I was supposed to blog here! (embarrassed blush)

It seems possible. Daunting, but possible. I look at my life and say, "How can I possibly come up with something to talk about that often? I'm a boring person!"
Friends have told me I'm wrong about that. LOL. So, I promise to try harder from now on.

Now, what I need from you are your ideas! What would make for a blog you or others would like to visit? Do you need witty reparte? I can be witty. Do you want an account of my journey as a writer? I can share my journey. Do you want to know what I wear to bed at night? No question is too personal. I'll even tell you if I've cheated on my diet each day if you like. LOL.

So, let me know what floats your boat. Excerpts? Pictures? Funny stories? The untold truth? Or something different each day so you never know what to expect? I could even resurrect my old advice blog, Ask Ash, where I gave the kind of advice your mother would never think of, delivered with a dose of snark.

I can't wait to get you're input! And to thank you, anyone who wants some bookmarks and or postcards from me, just email me after leaving your comment. ash@ashlynchase.com is my email addy.

Thanks so much!!!

Ash

  1. Ash,
I cannot help you. No one is worse at blogging than me, just ask Danielle or Linda! They have both watched me flounder and have thrown me lifelines more than once.
That said, I am a great encourager and I have all faith that you will keep your vow, and that this group of fabulous ladies will give you some exciting ideas to write about. Though, I'm sure you have plenty of your own. So get to it! You have fans waiting to hear what you have to say about...the weather! :-)

  3. Ash,

I'd love to have some suggestions on topics myself. I'm always afraid my personal life is boring, and not everyone who reads the blog is a writing, so writing tips might not be good either.

I guess excerpts are always good... RIGHT?!?!

  5. Here's me still trying to figure out how to blog. I like the blogposts here because I always feel like I'm being invited in on a conversation between fun and interesting people, with fun and interesting books thrown in for good measure.

  6. That's encouraging too, Sheila.

The more I ask this question, the more stumped it seems we writers are!
At least we're not alone, eh Loucinda?

  7. Ash,

I have the same problem trying to figure out what to write blogs about. Danielle is so sick of me asking for topics, she probably dreads my upcoming blog tour. Once I have a topic, it's easy to write. Coming up with the topic isn't. Good luck with your vow.

  8. I do a lot of cross posting since I'm on other group blogs plus my personal one. I do flash fiction. Fluff and Puff work very well for that. Sometimes, crazy events in my life. Just fun stuff. Girl stuff.

    There's a lot out there.

    All good ones!

    And thanks for commiserating, Robin!

  10. Sometimes I have an idea going into it, and other times I just sit down, take a deep breath, close my eyes, and start typing. I blog every day on my personal blog, but the guest blogs still scare me sometimes, so I do feel your pain, Ash! Of course, on my blog, if I'm not feeling particularly chatty, I can just post a naked hunk....

  11. Ash,

I see funny news stories, or sometimes a title that can prompt a blog. :) Disasters--my computer just crashed...argh, and I'm in the middle of final edits, teaching an online class, that sort of thing. I was asked a question on an interview that I thought fun to ask readers what they thought.

But I didn't know we were supposed to ask Danielle for ideas for blog topics!!! Hey, D..a..n..i..e..l..l..e!!! Me too, 'k??? LOL

What made you write about such and such? What inspired you to write certain scenes? Are any for real? Listen to music while you write? Write about themes--Autumn, the cold weather, how do you celebrate the season? Etc...

And most of all--have fun! :)

  12. I think we all find it to be difficult. Even when you have a book launching soon, it get tough finding a couple dozen different ways to talk about it!

I think it varies on what the blog is. Around here we are like a family and have a broad spectrum of what we blog about. It may be personal, career related, informational, specific to our books, or anything in between. I try to keep my own blog focused on my novels with the occasional fun blurb thrown in.

All that to say it ends being seat of the pants usually! Good luck!
